Club Penguin VS Poptropica: Which Game is Better?

WARNING: This post is just me ranting on both Poptropica and Club Penguin (and Disney too, of course!), so I might go crazy.

Hey there, Clawtropicans! Purple Claw here, with my first ever rant (I think…?) post! Today, I’m going to talk about Club Penguin and Poptropica, as well as what is ruining those games. Anyway, let’s get started right away, because this is going to be long!

The Basics

• Club Penguin

So basically, Club Penguin is a virtual world, when you are a penguin, then you go on a server and meet other people from all around the world. You can play minigames, chat with other players, get pets (named puffles), and many more! The are also monthly parties on CP, with new features, costumes, and decorations.

• Poptropica

You sure know what Poptropica is, this whole blog is about it! Anyway, if you’re new here you might want to know what this game is about. So, Poptropica is really fun virtual world, where you travel through islands, complete quests, and save the world. There’s also an upcoming version of Poptropica coming soon, so that might be the reason why the developers are inactive, sometimes.

Membership

• Club Penguin

”Some features require a paid membership”

Lies. On CP, almost all features require membership… I don’t know why Disney wants to make that much money, it’s already a super rich company (how much more do these guys want?). The only things that don’t require membership to get, are dumb outfits, only two kinds of puffles, and an igloo that you can’t even decorate! This is one of the reasons that I don’t play Club Penguin anymore! And, that I want to get banned on purpose… Yeah… Details, details!

• Poptropica

Although Poptropica doesn’t require membership for everything cool they have, it still has got a few problems. Okay, now, let’s Pop down memory lane…

On July 2015, 7 sponsored islands became members only. That was something unexpected for everyone; just check out the comment section on that Poptropica Help Blog post! I’m fine making new islands members only (for, like a month), but I never was fine with making old islands for members… Also, non-members can’t save their outfits without glitching!

What is ruining those games?

• Club Penguin

The answer is clear: Disney. Disney brought back at the store really rare patched items  and that made everyone mad. Also, they limited the way of chatting (now penguins can’t use numbers, or symbols when chatting), they changed CP’s art style, graphics, backgrounds, they changed almost everything! I’m pretty sure you guys know how mad fandoms get when big changes arrive! Anyway, special thanks to Tall Melon’s YouTube video for helping out!

• Poptropica

Well, the thing that’s ruining Poptropica is… the lack of originality. Have you noticed Poptropica islands are getting less and less original? It’s true! Just check out the list below.

1. Escape from Pelican Rock – just a parody of escape from Alcatraz.
2. Survival, episodes 4 and 5 are based off of the novel The Most Dangerous Game.
3. Timmy Failure and the lovely Galactic Hot Dogs Island were sponsored.
4. Monkey Wrench – does that even count?!?

Which game is better?

I’d have to say… Club Penguin! Just kidding, just kidding, Poptropica 100 times better than Club Penguin. The damage has already been made on CP, even though this game is still going strong ’til these days. Anyhow, even though Poptropica might be getting inactive and less original, but I think the creators are saving new awesome ideas for the new Poptropica that was originally going to launch this year.
