Pop 5: The Very Worst Poptropicans

worstpop3.png

Poptropica is full of brilliant and likeable characters… but there’s also a lot of Poptropicans who are more than a bit of a pain to be around.

#5. THE WARDEN (ESCAPE FROM PELICAN ROCK)

wardenSharpMale2.png

Well, this slightly pretentious warden from EFPR isn’t exactly the most likeable person: he has no respect for any of his prisoners (which maybe isn’t a great surprise, being the warden of a prison), particularly you. But still … he’s a little more cranky than your average prison warden.

#4. ZEUS (MYTHOLOGY ISLAND)

MythologyCharacterFor the king of the gods in Greek mythology, he definitely doesn’t make a great impression throughout the quest – he sends you off to collect some sacred items in return for immortality, and once you obtain them, he laughs in your face and tries to dominate Poptropica. Then in Super Villain, he asks you to fetch some more powerful objects, and once you get them, he laughs at your face and tries to take over Poptropica, again. Bit of a one-track mind, Zeus has.

#3. MYRON VAN BUREN (SURVIVAL)

Myronvanburen

Over in Survival Island, he spies on you during three of its episodes, where you nearly freeze to death, nearly starve to death and nearly fall off a radio tower multiple times. Then, when you manage to get the radio tower working, he conveniently arrives to rescue you as if he only found you because of the radio. Then he gives you a warm bed, the kind gesture only slightly ruined by giving you a poisoned meal to make you drowsy, locking your bedroom door and the announcing that you get the honor of being the subject of his hunt as if you were some prize animal. Well, at least he fills just about all villain conventions.

#2. KIRK STRAYER (BACK LOT ISLAND)

300px-KirkStrayer.png

He’s supposed to be one of the greatest and most famous actor of all time in Poptropica (well, I’ve never heard of him till I set foot in Back Lot Island, but anyway), and when you actually meet him in person … well, he turns out to be a bit of a disappointment.

He throws a temper tantrum when you interrupt his acting and storms away to his caravan, forcing you and the director Carson Willis to chase after him; he says he’ll only come out if you fetch him a Half-Caf Leviathan Latte-Expresso on the double and throws a coffee cup out of the window (well, at least you learnt some useless and pointless coffee information no-one asked for); then you find him arguing with Carson yet again about how he doesn’t want to act as a gorilla. Well, at least he does a exceedingly superb job of acting a spoiled brat.

#1. SAMUEL BRAINS (ZOMBERRY ISLAND)

SamBrainsFull.png

This guy was the whole reason the zomberry epidemic began, because of his infected blueberries, and he gives out his deepest sympathies and apologies about it by … giving free certificates for his own smoothies?

SamuelBrainssssss

Moreover, why does he look like he decided what to wear while blindfolded? Maybe that’s one of the many reasons Sarah didn’t enjoy her birthday party so much. Hard to see why.

And on that note, that concludes this post. Is there anybody else who’s even more irritating and annoying who wasn’t mentioned here?

Stay popping! ^^

What will one May IotM be? (voting has closed)

Hey there, Poptropicans!

It’s Happy Lobster, with some not-so-new news, but, as per usual, with a new month around the corner, comes two new Islands of the Month. Also as conventional, first-time finishers receive 500 credits for finishing an IotM, and replays of IotMs will earn you a still somewhat decent 300 credits.

As of yet, the first May IotM is to be announced, but second IotM will be either Nabooti or Twisted Thicket.

Twisted Thicket vs Nabooti.jpg

However, like for February, there was a poll to vote for either of the two islands as the second May IotM – which sadly ended last Thursday, April 27. Hopefully you got your valued vote in before then!

But since May arrives in a couple of days’ time, you can find out both of its official IotMs soon (#NabootiFTW!).

See you soon!

Going Back in Time: January’s IotMs

Hey there, Poptropicans!

It’s Happy Lobster here. So, a new month is kicking in, and what does that mean? Yet another month for the community to moan and groan about the overdue New Pop? Well, possibly, for those who feel like doing so … but it’s also time for another set of Islands of the Month!

The islands featured this January are Time Tangled Island and Arabian Nights. Looks like the Creators want us to visit some islands submerged in the past this time around.

january-poptropica-islands-of-the-month

As per usual with IotMs, Poptropica gives out the usual amount of extra credits for finishing IotMs: first-time finishers receive 500 credits for completing the islands in question, and repeat finishers receive 300 credits.

But Arabian Nights is not an normal island – it consists of three seperate episodes. So, how will the credits be distributed for finishers? Like for one of December’s IotMs, PoptropiCon (another episodic island), each episode gives out 500 and 300 credits for first-time finishers and re-players, respectively. So if you complete each episode for the first time, you can receive 1,500 credits! It’s about time you were rolling in credits.

Need help completing these islands? Well, Captain Crawfish has some video walkthroughs prepared for Arabian Nights, and is working on one for Time Tangled.

If you want written walkthroughs to assist you, you can always read the PHB’s guides to Time Tangled Island and Arabian Nights.

Well, that’s all for January’s IotMs. Make sure to hurry and earn those extra credits this month!

Behind the Scenes: Shrink Ray Island

Hey there, Poptropicans! It’s Happy Lobster here, and I’ve got some interesting things to show you all.

As you may know, Shrink Ray Island, along with Poptropolis Games, were selected as November’s Islands of the Month. Basically, IOTMs are island that give out extra credits for playing or replaying; in this case first-time finishers receive 500 credits (instead of the usual 300) completing these particular, and re-players will obtain 300 credits, instead of the usual 150 given.

Anyway, as the Creators did so with an October IOTM; they’re showing us some interesting behind-the-scenes pics relating to Shrink Ray Island, one of this month’s IOTMs. Check them out!

First off, we have some curious sketches of dust bunnies, which was an idea for Shrink Ray that didn’t make the cut. It’s a shame they weren’t included in the island – I personally would have loved to see these little critters involved.

shrink-ray-island-brainstorm-3.jpg

And here are two great ideas which were proposed to be included in Shrink Ray, but sadly didn’t make it into the island as well. One is a vigorous activity to do with retrieving coins, and the other is a plan for making a plastic bag into a hot-air balloon.

I hoped you enjoyed this little tour behind the scenes! Shrink Ray is an amazing island with a terrific storyline – it goes to show that the Creators’ had myriads of remarkable ideas for Shrink Ray, but only the best were selected to make the island a true classic to enjoy.

See you soon, Poptropicans!

The Poptropica Costume Contest is here!

Hey there, Poptropicans! It’s Happy Lobster here, and I have some exciting new for you all!

pcc

Poptropica is hosting yet another contest! As many of you might know, Poptropica decided to hold the #PoptropicaArt contest, announced nearly five months ago – an amazing contest for Poptropican players to draw a piece related to Poptropica. This one will need you to draw again – but not just anything. Poptropica is asking you to design your dream costume!

You will be only allowed three entries, so if your mind is overloaded with inventive designs, you’ll just have to cherry-pick the best three. However, there will be only one winner. If an entry of yours wins, the rewards are absolutely incredible – you’ll be bestowed a six-month membership, and your entry will be made into a real costume and sold in the Store itself! Isn’t that absolutely wonderful? And in a nutshell by Skinny Moon:

poptropica-famous

Not to worry, Poptropicans, Success Kid will not take out the contest and leave you out in the rain (probably).

Anyway, as with several other Poptropica contests, your entries will need to be submitted via social media, like Twitter or Instagram, and you’ll need to tag the costumes with #MyPoptropicaCostume, so that the Creators will see it. The contest ends on December 31st, and the winner will be announced sometime in January, so you’ll have about a month and a half to design your costumes, before time runs out.

You can read about the full rules that come with this contest here. In the meantime, here are a few guidelines that Skinny Moon stated below:

  • You can use our template (find it here) to draw your outfit. Or draw your Poptropican’s outfit freehand (here’s a guide). Or draw your creation using your computer or tablet. Whatever you want!
  • Use your imagination! Get inspired by your favorite movies or TV shows and put your own original twist on them. Or think about your favorite activities, sports, and hobbies, and base a costume around one of them. Check out your favorite magazines and take a cue from the latest trends. The sky’s the limit!
  • Don’t forget about fun accessories and powers that your costume could have!
  • When you design your costume, be sure it could be reproducable as a Poptropica Costume. Teeny tiny details would be hard to recreate for a store costume.
  • Your costume needs to be an original design of yours, not an assembly of current Poptropica costume parts.
  • Give your costume a name and put your Poptropican’s name on it, and if you want, your age. Do not include your last name or where you live. For example, your entry could say something like “Winter Fun Outfit by Happy Catfish, age 14.”

If you need some inspiration in making your costumes, check out these stylish costumes made by Perfect Sky.

Get creating, Poptropicans! We hope to see you come up with some fabulous costume designs!

Round 4 – #PoptropicaArt Finalists

Hello, there. It’s Happy Lobster here, exhibiting the finalists from Round 4 of the #PoptropicaArt contest!

So, you might recently have noticed a new post on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog. Being busy, the Creators postponed revealing the final round of finalists and the overall winners of the contest from its initial date. But, because of this, and the fact that they’ve received so many entries of astounding calibre, Poptropica has decided to release an additional, but final, fifth round of finalists, from Twitter – giving a greater opportunity for more to win!

Also, take a look at the amazing art entries from the three other previous finalist rounds, announced earlier, from Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3.

Below are the entries of the lucky finalists of Round 4, which have been selected fromInstagram this time around. And the finalists of Round 4 are: beanskelly, beebearie, cbroxton, esyla0212, foshurr, julia_henry_la, sterlingwolfy, yazz-_-minne, yun_goi and yuneiko_.
